Shelby Fain Byrd, 82, went home to be with her Lord on April 28, 2023 at the Hospice home surrounded by her family. She was born in Surry County on July 10, 1940 to the late Carl Blanch and Texas Owens Fain. She was the wife of 65 years to Johnnie Wilson Byrd who survives.
Shelby retired from Mid Atlantic Stihl in October of 2006. She loved her church and was a Charter Member of St. Luke’s Community Church. She was a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School Class and the Young at Heart Club and served on several committees. Shelby was a loving and devoted Christian wife, mother, sister and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Johnnie Wilson Byrd of the home; sons, Ronald Gene Byrd and wife, Lisa of Mebane and Jason Lynn Byrd and wife, Gail of Mooresville; grandchildren, Bryan Byrd, Justin (Kayla) Byrd, Tanner Byrd and Morgan Byrd; step granddaughter, Amber Combs; sister, Janice Fain of Mabank, Texas; brother, Garland Fain of Burlington; sister-in-law, Shirley Fain. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Avaleen Trollinger; brother, Bobby Ray Fain; daughter-in-law, Sandy Byrd and sister-in-law, Thelma Fain.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, May 1, 2023 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Tommy Privette with the burial to follow at Kerr’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4pm Sunday, April 30, 2023 at the funeral home and other times at the home.
