Sheldon was a Class of 1962 Central High classmate and a good friend through our time at Central - we both were in ROTC and shared other classes. We were "muy simpatico" but after we both left St. Joe for college and the service we lost contact. We reconnected once we found email addresses and enjoyed reconnecting about 8 years ago. i was able to visit Sheldon twice on travels to and through Colorado. The photo was taken in July 2017 - Sheldon treated me to lunch at the care facility he was living . I said to my wife recently that I'd like to him again this November when I plan to be in Denver for a meeting but then I discovered news hat he had passed in July.
I watched the service and thought Rabbi Black did a wonderful job describing the Sheldon I knew for his always upbeat and positive attitude. Never a complaint or even any discussion of his condition - he always steered conversation to other topics. I loved the letter Sheldon wrote on his wife's passing and especially the message left for his family as he saw his own time coming to an end. He touched a lot of lives and all for the better. I will think of him often.
