Shelia Ann Dankworth, 86, passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord on October 6, 2025, at 9:45 p.m., comforted by her devoted family in Abilene, Texas.

She was born on February 2, 1939, to J.T. Gregory and Sybil Marie Cox in Brady, Texas.

Shelia was married to the love of her life, Dan Dankworth, for 71 beautiful years—a true love story that served as an inspiration to all who knew them.

Shelia lived a life full of joy, faith, and devotion. She loved to dance, was deeply involved in her church, and had a passion for traveling. Her greatest joys came from time spent with her children and grandchildren. A gifted seamstress, she enjoyed sewing and took pride in creating beautiful banners for her church. Known for her tidy nature, Shelia always made sure the dishes were clean—a reflection of the care and order she brought to every part of her life.

For 67 years, Shelia and Dan worked side by side to build Pine Street Salvage into what it is today. They have been richly blessed, and their legacy continues as the business enters its fourth generation.

Shelia is preceded in death by her parents, J.T. Gregory and Sybil Marie Cox.

She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Dan Dankworth of Abilene; her son, Greg Dankworth and wife Laura of Amarillo; and her daughter, Danise Wills of Abilene.

She also leaves behind six grandchildren:

Krissy Layton and husband Dustin of Azle; Kyla Dodgin and husband Dustin of Amarillo; Orrin Dankworth and wife Kaci of Amarillo; Maegan Allen and husband Caleb from Abilene; Riley Wills and wife Geraldine of Abilene; and LeAnna Wills of Abilene.

Her twelve great-grandchildren include:

Anna Malkuch and husband Graham of Lubbock; Liam Dodgin of Amarillo; Landry Layton of Azle; Myles, Jackson, and Charli Kate Dankworth of Amarillo; Fisher and Emberly Allen of Abilene; and Walker, Dakota, Clara; and Hadley Jo Wills of Abilene.

A visitation will be held on October 13, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel at Lange Funeral Home in Ballinger, Texas, with the service to follow. She will be laid to rest at Saint Boniface Cemetery in Olfen, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Hendrick Hospice Care or West Texas Rehabilitation Center in Shelia’s memory.

Shelia will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
