Shelia Patricia Tipton, 84, went to her heavenly home in the early hours of July 18, 2025, in the comfort of her home, with family by her side. She was most often known as “Pat”, but her favorite title was “GanGan”.
Pat was the second of four children born to Charles and Mary Charles Myers. She was born on June 28, 1941, in Townsend, Tennessee, where she lived for most of her life. She married her love, Paul Fredrick Tipton, on June 26, 1962. Pat graduated college with a degree in nursing, though she then decided to stay home and take care of her family. She lived many places with her husband and two children, before settling again in Townsend, in the same home that she was raised in by her parents. It was in this home that her grandchildren spent many summers with her making memories and learning her work ethic.
As a woman strong in her faith, she was a member of Tuckaleechee Methodist Church for many years. She was most recently recognized as a Charter Member of Little River Christian Fellowship.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul F. Tipton; parents, Charles and Mary Charles Myers; brother, Sidney Myers and wife Linda; sister, Nancy Huiet and husband Bear; dear friend June LaVan and nephew Shannon Neff.
Survivors include her brother, Ronney Myers; daughter, Beth Loden (Ricky); son, Michael Tipton (Towdy); six grandchildren: Justin Loden (Kirsten), Madison Caver (Walker), Katelyn Tipton, Madeline Jones (Jacob), Paul Tipton, and Aaliyah Green; eight great-grandchildren, Kyleigh, Kinsley, Kylie, Chloe, Wrylan, Tipton, Charlee, and Landon; nephews, Wesley and Cale Neff, Bill and Peter Myers and niece Tammy Myers Matthews; dear friends, Gail Shuler and David Webb, amongst many more family/friends.
Special thanks to Cale and Wes Neff, David Webb and Gail Shuler for their unwavering friendship and vigilance in caring for Pat for the past several years.
The family wants to thank Blount Memorial medical, hospice, and doctors for the services provided over the years.
A memorial is scheduled for Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Smith Funeral Home. The visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. with the service at 11 a.m. at Smith Trinity Chapel. The graveside service will be at 12 p.m. at Tuckaleechee Cemetery in Townsend, Tennessee.
In lieu thereof traditional black attire, the family requests a colorful presence as this was always most desired by Pat.
In lieu thereof flowers, donations can be made to: Little River Christian Fellowship ATTN: Walt King, Treasurer 650 Pioneer Trail Townsend, Tennessee 37882.
