Shelley Marie Kettel, 57, of Columbus, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 23, 2024. She was born July 23, 1966, in Mt. Clemens, the daughter of Daniel and Susan (Beindit) Stephenson. She was married to Scott Kettel on April 24, 1987, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Anchorville. Shelley was a hairdresser for 18 years. Shelley was most recently employed at Richmond Kroger's for 17 years, where she wore her crazy earrings and stopped every elderly person from getting scammed. She was a Parishioner of Holy Family Parish, Memphis, where she was also a former Catechist for years.
Surviving in addition to her husband Scott of 37 years is three children Emma (Josh), Scott (Sheyenne), and Emmett; mother Susan Stephenson; step-mother-in-law, Jean Kettel; grandmother, Mary Ann Stephenson; sister and brother-in-law, Stacey (Jim) Rieck; sister-in-law, Kris Kettel (Kuziel); brother-in-law, Gordon (Karen) Kettel, nieces, Anna Rieck, Mandy Schoolmaster and Jenny Kettel; nephew, Josh Kettel, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Preceding her in death, her father, Daniel Stephenson; grandmother, Emma Beindit; both grandfathers, George Beindit and Robert Stephenson; father-in-law, Marvin Kettel; mother-in-law, Irma Kettel and my many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Shelley was very proud of her three children. Her daughter Emma who is a Paralegal, her son, Scott, who is a Specialist in the Army serving in the Military Police Corp on Fort Drum, NY, and her son Emmett who is wrestling at Olivet Collage and studying Criminal Justice and Environmental Science. Shelley was also excited to be planning her daughter Emma's wedding, continue supporting her son, Scott, in the Military, and watching her son, Emmett for one more wrestling season and walk across the stage for graduation next year. Shelley was also a beloved pet mom, most recently to her baby Tinsel and to her grand dog, Macy, whom she spoiled rotten.
Many people would tell you what a giving person Shelley was, and she got to give one more gift through this tragedy, the Gift of Life through Organ Donation, saving multiple people through this gift.
Her family honors the memory of Shelley and invites you to visit and share memories Thursday, June 27, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Friday, June 28, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaatz Funeral Directors, Richmond, with rosary devotion/scripture services at 7:00 p.m. Rite of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Parish, Memphis, with 10:00 a.m. visiting. Fr. Joseph Horn visiting pastor will officiate. Burial will be in St. Philip Neri Cemetery, Columbus Township.
