Shellie Kelsey Erikson was born June 28, 1969 in Payson, UT to DeVere and Donna Bowles Kelsey. She passed away on December 3, 2025 in Albuquerque, NM.
She attended schools in Nephi, UT, graduating in 1987 from Juab High School. During her school days she enjoyed Dancing, Drill Team, Drama, and Marching Band.
She attended Brigham Young University in Provo, UT, graduating in 1993 with a BS degree in Secondary Education. She played the clarinet in the BYU marching band.
Soon after graduation, she started dating William (Bill) W. Erikson. After a short courtship they were married in the Manti Utah Temple on August 19, 1994.
Shellie and Bill lived in Salt Lake City and Provo, UT, before moving to Albuquerque, NM where they have lived since 1999.
Shellie is the mother to seven children. James and John were born in Utah. John was born three months prematurely due to some health problems that Shellie had, and died as a small baby.
Because of her health, Shellie was not able to give birth again. She and Bill became parents to five more children through adoption: Katherine, Michael, Mary, Emily, and Elizabeth. They are grateful to the birth parents who entrusted these children to their care.
Shellie loved being a mom and spending time with her family. She always supported them. She also enjoyed making crafts, cross-stitching, crocheting, camping in the beautiful outdoors, and memorable family road trips around the country.
She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a young woman, she served a full-time mission to San Diego, CA. She also worked with the Church's young people including several years as a Cub Scout leader. She was an excellent teacher in church classes.
Shellie struggled with a number of health problems over the years including Systemic Lupus, Diabetes, and kidney disease. She received two different kidney transplants.
Shellie is survived by her loving husband, Bill, her children: James, Katherine, Michael, Mary, Emily, and Elizabeth; her mother, Donna Kelsey, her siblings: Lorrie (Dean) Crandall, Robby (Doreen) Kelsey, Karen (Joe) Carter, Gregory (Amber) Kelsey, Jason (Rebecca) Kelsey, and Kristopher (Suzanne) Kelsey. Shellie was preceded in death by her father, DeVere Kelsey and her son, John.
