Shelly Lynn Hills, 47, of La Plata, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on October 22, 2025, at La Plata Nursing Home.
Shelly was born January 20, 1978, in Kirksville, Missouri, to Allan and Mickey Hills. She was preceded in death by her father, Allan Hills; her grandfather, L.T. Schmidt; and her grandparents, Theodore and Mary Palmer, and Loyd and Elizabeth Hills.
Shelly is survived by her mother, Mickey Hills of Kirksville; her siblings Christina (Patrick) Boling of Covington, Louisiana, Jonathan (Amy) Hills of Kirksville, and Lindsey Hills of Kirksville; and her beloved nieces, Audrey and Madison Boling. She is also remembered by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A 1996 graduate of Kirksville High School, Shelly faced lifelong health challenges, but with courage and faith, defying the odds with her resilient spirit.
Shelly loved her nieces dearly, cherished her cat Lucky, and found joy in holidays, family gatherings, and hobbies including bingo, coloring, and crafts.
Shelly was fond of social media and enjoyed sharing inspirational quotes, scripture, and aesthetic images containing the color purple.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Playle-Rimer-Millard Family Funeral Chapel, followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Ralph Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens.
Shelly will be remembered for her strength, her love of family, and her unwavering smile.
