Shelly Stelly, age 61, passed away on September 9, 2025, following a short but courageous battle with ALS. He left this world peacefully with his two boys by his side.
Funeral services officiated by Deacon William "Billy" Vincent will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, September 12, 2025, at Vincent Funeral Home of Kaplan. He will be laid to rest at Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Trey Stelly, Ty Stelly, Travis Gaspard, Ryan Bernard, Cedric Stelly, and Chad Stelly. Honorary pallbearers will be Zane Guidry and Kade Mire.
A visitation will take place at Vincent Funeral Home of Kaplan on Friday, September 12, 2025, from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM with a rosary being prayed at 11:00 AM.
Shelly's proudest moments in life were found in the simple joys he cherished most - tending to his garden and celebrating the birth of his beloved granddaughter, Brystin. His love for family was evident in all that he did, and his gentle spirit will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his two sons, Trey Stelly and his wife Brooke, and Ty Stelly; his granddaughter, Brystin Stelly; and a special friend, Karleen. Shelly also leaves behind his brother, Blaine (Susan) Stelly; his sisters, Charlene (Chris) Toups, Mona (Keith) Bernard, and Dena (Keith) Gaspard, all of Forked Island; along with numerous nieces and nephews who adored him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Joseph Stelly and former Della Rung; his brothers, Jimmy Stelly, Randal Stelly, and Wyndal Stelly; his sister-in-law, Susan L. Stelly; and his nephew, Jeromy Stelly.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Acadian Home Care and Heart of Hospice for the care and compassion they provided during Shelly's illness. A special thank you is also extended to his personal nurse, his niece Timori Tullier. Also, his sitters, Pat Bertrand and Chadsity, for their kindness and support.
Shelly's memory will live on through the family and friends who loved him dearly.
