Affectionately known as Mamaw, Meemaw, and Mangaw, our beloved daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother went to her final resting place on September 23rd, 2025. Sheree Lynn Doehring (Ulmer) was born on January 21st, 1956, to Richard (Dick) & Beulah (Mimi) Ulmer.
From the start, Mom was always known to be the stubborn one, the one in control, the leader. These strong characteristics were intimidating to many, but to the few who broke through that front, a lifelong connection was made.
To those people, she would surely be referred to as the BEST cook. How could anyone dispute this once they got a taste of her Thanksgiving stuffing, made-from-scratch stromboli, and of course, any of her baked goods? True to her country roots and heritage, most everything was made by hand, including canned goods, Halloween costumes, and any treat sent to school. Kids and teachers alike got a little more excited when the Doehring girls walked into the classroom with their one-of-a-kind edible birthday creations.
Mom was never afraid to try new recipes, mainly for the challenge they posed and probably for the fact that she was confident in her ability to make people content. Cherries jubilee, black raspberry cream pie, baked Alaska, cupcakes, pies, cheesecake, and wedding cakes were well within the realm of possible, although you'd need to do the berry picking yourself. She had an inherent ability take even the simplest meal (a sandwich or mac-n-cheese) and transform it into "one of the best things I've ever tasted".
Sheree was no stranger to hard work, either. She could keep an acre-sized garden in the dead of summer, take on a roaming steer or two from a neighbor's pasture, and work full time while putting herself through nursing school, all while being ever-present in her daughters' lives. Never did she miss a volleyball game, dance routine, or coronation and could be heard cheering many times from the stands. She was proud of us and always made certain we knew we were loved.
For the wonderful mother she was, the title "Grandma" solidified her purpose on this earth. She'd travel hundreds of miles just for the chance of holding her grandbabies for a few hours. Numerous times she'd "rearrange" her schedule to help babysit or guide her daughters through motherhood. Late night calls were always answered with a reassuring conversation about a sick kid or "am I doing this right?" questions. And she was always right it seemed. Even when her health began to steadily decline, the sight of her grandchildren seemed to be the one thing to rouse a smile.
If you knew Sheree in any form or fashion, we ask you to please remember her as a stellar mother, feisty aunt, selfless grandmother, loyal sister, silly neighbor, darn good nurse, and one heck of a cook. Please do not remember her by the disease that took her from us and robbed us of the things she was meant to be.
The family is greatly indebted to the staff at Casey Health Care Center for loving Mom and seeing beyond her disease. Without you all, this part of life would have been unimaginably more difficult, so thank you. Sincerely.
