Sherenda Jones Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Metropolitan Funeral Service - Berkley Chapel on Jan. 26, 2026.
Dr. Sherenda B. Jones was born on February 28, 1966, in Hampton, Virginia, the first child of William Bowser and Joyce Roberts. Raised in the heart of Hampton, she spent her childhood between Richard Avenue and Garrett Drive, where her foundation of faith, discipline, and community was formed.

She received her early education at Jane H. Bryant Elementary School and Lindsey Junior High School, and proudly graduated with the Class of 1984 from Hampton High School as a Hampton Crabber. From an early age, Sherenda carried herself with intention, grace, and a quiet confidence that would define her life's journey.

Committed to growth and lifelong learning, Sherenda pursued higher education and achieved many of her personal and professional goals. She earned a Bachelor of Applied Sciences degree from Hampton University. Guided by her faith and calling, she continued her academic journey at Regent University, where she earned her Master's degree and later attained the distinguished honor of Doctor of Strategic Leadership at Liberty University.

Professionally, Dr. Jones dedicated her life to service through healthcare and leadership. She began her nursing career as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Sentara, later advancing to become a Registered Nurse. Her career culminated in her role as an Occupational Health Nurse with Military Sealift Command in Norfolk, Virginia. Alongside her nursing career, Sherenda was a natural leader and visionary entrepreneur. She founded and grew her consulting agency, Continue to Soar, through which she poured wisdom, strategy, and encouragement into others, always inspiring those around her to rise higher and lead with purpose.

At the center of Sherenda's life was her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished daughter, and supportive sister. She shared a beautiful and enduring marriage with her husband, Andre Jones Sr., spanning three decades. Their union was rooted in love, partnership, and mutual respect. Together, they built a life filled with faith, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to family.

Sherenda was the proud mother of Andre Jones Jr. (wife, Andreea Jones) and Andrea Wright (husband, Ewon Wright). As her children's lives expanded beyond borders, Sherenda embraced her role not just as a mother but as a constant presence. She and her husband traveled abroad often to remain close to their children and grandchildren, believing that distance should never dilute love.

She was a joyful and attentive grandmother to Olivia, Braylen, Brooklyn, and Lennox, who lovingly called her "Foxy." The name reflected her vibrant spirit, impeccable style, and the joy she carried into every room. Her love for her grandchildren was evident in her pride-filled conversations, her willingness to travel wherever they were, and the way she showed up fully in their lives.

Sherenda also shared a close bond with her brother, William Bowser Jr., and remained deeply connected to her parents, honoring family at every stage of her life. In addition to her immediate family, Dr. Jones is also survived by her beloved stepson, Dontie Williams, and her cherished godson, Maurice Coker, along with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins ,friends, mentees, and all whose lives were touched by her wisdom, generosity, and care.

Beyond her roles and accomplishments, Sherenda was known for her impeccable style and presence. She loved shopping, took pride in being well kept, and was always dressed to impress, often adorned in her favorite Michael Kors pieces. Wherever she went, she carried herself with elegance, confidence, and grace.

Above all, Dr. Sherenda B. Jones lived a life of faith, leadership, and impact. Her legacy is one of love deeply given, wisdom freely shared, and a life fully lived. Though her physical presence is no longer with us, her influence, example, and spirit will continue to soar through the lives of all who were blessed to know her.
