Sheri Phipps, 47, of Creston, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 2010 at her home. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010 at the Powers Funeral Home junction of highways 34 and 25 in Creston. Pastor Jim Gubser will officiate. Interment will be private. Open visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wed. in Creston. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to the family. Online condolences may be left under the obituary category of www.powersfh.com. Sheri Phipps, daughter of Ronald Lee Greenwalt and Lavona "Sunny" Pearl (Dixon) Greenwalt, was born April 3, 1962 in Greenfield, Ia. She graduated from Greenfield High School in 1980. She went on for training at the American College of Hairstyling in Des Moines. On Aug. 10, 1984, Sheri married Scott Phipps in Cromwell. They lived and worked in the Cromwell and Creston areas. Sheri worked for Bunn-O-matic, and then later, Gits Manufacturing. She divorced in 1998. She then lived for a time in Green Valley, Ariz. She returned to Creston in April of 2008. She bartended for the American Legion and later the Montgomery Street Pub. Survivors include her son, Trevor (wife Susan) Phipps of Beaufort, S.C. and her daughter, Sunita (husband Ross Steeve) Phipps of Creston; three grandchildren, Perry and Keyin Steeve, and Brady Phipps; a brother, Bob (wife Louise) Ethington of Fresno, Calif.; and two sisters, Betty (husband Dean) Chaney of Osceola and Debbie Stocker of Miles City, Mont. Sheri was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers-in-law, Ed Scrivner and Robert Stocker and a nephew, Caleb Hockel.
