Sherman LeRoy Beazer passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, at the age of 85.
Born in Salt Lake City in 1940 to Dale Beazer and Doris Cummings Beazer, Sherman was the eldest child of his family and older brother to two younger siblings, David and Marie.
Early in life, Sherm developed a strong work ethic and a knack for service, working through both high school and college at his grandfather's chocolate company (Cummings Studio Candies). In 1960, Sherm served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the French East Mission in both France and Switzerland. Upon returning, Sherman graduated from the University of Utah, earning a master's degree in business administration. He was also a champion debater and participated in ROTC, which set the stage for his future service in the U.S. Army.
Sherm met Lorilee Hayes at a church dance and promptly abandoned his bachelor ways. The couple married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 25, 1965. Their marriage was a testament to faith, endurance, and commitment. Together, they built a life filled with understanding, mutual respect, and appreciation for each other's individuality. Sherm and Lorilee were married for nearly 60 years. They were loving companions and the best of friends.
After graduating with his MBA, Sherm served three years in the US Army, including 15 months in Korea (KMAG 8th Army HQ) in Seoul, where he also taught English classes and helped at an orphanage. After returning from Korea, Capt. Beazer then taught at the US Army Ordnance Center and School, Aberdeen, MD. Sherman and Lorilee later moved to Colorado and finally returned to Utah in 1974.
Sherm channeled his entrepreneurial spirit into Computers QED, a computer store he owned and operated for nearly 25 years in Bountiful, Utah. From assembling and selling computers to repairing and resolving technical issues, he provided personalized care to grateful customers.
For the past two decades, Sherman faced the challenges of Parkinson's Disease with his usual fortitude, equanimity, grace, and good humor. His ever-optimistic attitude provided an example to those around him of resilience even in the face of adversity.
Sherm was an accomplished woodworker, bread maker, punster, and a dedicated fan of the Utah Utes.
To those who knew him, Sherm will be remembered for his playful sense of humor, his razor sharp wit, and for being able to find amusement in the everyday. He was a man of unwavering patience, faith, warmth, kindness, and genuine friendliness. Sherm leaves behind a legacy of service, commitment, and dedication to his family.
He is survived by his wife, Lorilee; his siblings: David (Colleen) Beazer and Marie (Robert) Jacobs; his three children: Mary (Shane) Beazer, Alynne Beazer, and Quintin (Brooke) Beazer, adopted daughter, Trena Jensen; and four grandchildren: Lydia, Corbin, Graham, and Iris Beazer.
