Sherman Postell Obituary

Sherman Keith Postell, 85, of Andrews, N.C., passed away Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025.
He was a native and lifelong resident of Cherokee County, N.C., and the son of the late Sherman Joseph and Ila Mae Holloway Postell.
Sherman was a U.S. Marine veteran. He retired from Snap-On Tools.
Sherman was an outdoors person. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.
Sherman loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He was a member of Red Marble Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Christine Edwards and Vickie Wishon.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Jean Cross Postell; one son, Brian Postell (Crystal) of Johnson City, Tenn.; one daughter, Tracy Carter (Ray) of Andrews, N.C.; two grandchildren, Caylyn Burnette and
Caleb Stiles; and four great-grandchildren, Anzleigh Stiles, James Burnette, Paison Stiles and Addilynn Stiles.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026, at Red Marble Baptist Church. The Revs. Mickey Stewart and Steve West officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery with military rites being conducted by the American Legion Post 96, Murphy, American Legion Post 532 Hayesville, VFW Post 6812, Hayesville and the Marine Corps League, Marble. Pallbearers were Ray Carter, Dillon Burnette, Caleb Stiles, Joe Benham, George Postell and Dalton Welch. Honorary pallbearers were Verdon Owenby and Pearly Owenby.
The family received friends from noon-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, at Red Marble Baptist Church.
Townson-Rose Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.
