Mr. Sherman Douglas Tippett

Sherman Douglas Tippett was born on April 23, 1951, in Bastrop, Louisiana, to Luvenia Tippett. He accepted Christ at an early age, a foundation that remained with him throughout his life.
Sherman was educated within the Detroit Public Schools system and graduated from Chadsey High School in 1969. He spent many years as a store manager across several shoe stores, where his leadership and charm were always on display.
He later joined Ford Motor Company, where he worked as an auto worker for 25 years. He was preparing for retirement at the time of his passing.
Sherman will be remembered for his impeccable style and lifelong love of sports and cars. His vibrant personality and unmistakable sense of humor-especially his signature corny jokes-brought joy and laughter to everyone around him. A devoted fan of Detroit's teams, he found true happiness cheering on the Tigers at the ballpark, celebrating holidays with his loved ones, and sharing meaningful moments with his children and grandchildren.
On July 7, 2025, Sherman peacefully departed this life. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Luvenia Tippett, and his sister, LaDawn Martin.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will be cherished by his children: Kenyatta Devon Martin (Memory) and Kristen Gabrielle Tippett-Dozier (Robert); siblings: Carolyn Laird, Angela Goldsby, Renee Goldsby, and LaTisha Tippett; grandchildren: Tavarian Martin, Nalah Martin, Lavon Jaden Tippett-Dozier, and Jade Tippett-Dozier; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
