Sherman Monroe Wilkinson

Sherman Monroe Wilkinson, 89, of Palatka passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at the Palatka Center for Rehabilitation and Healing following an extended illness.
Sherman was born in Palatka and had been a lifelong resident of Francis. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during "peace time" in Korea after the Korean war. He worked as a roll wrapper operator at Georgia Pacific Corp., retiring in 1998 after 40 1/2 years of service. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and had also served as a Trustee. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Delva Wilkinson; his parents, Ace and Elsie Wilkinson; a sister, Betty Frady Wilkinson; a son, Elmer Thomas; two grandsons, Michael Thomas and Ronnie Ward; a great-great-granddaughter, Sadie Lynn; and two step-daughters, Sheri Murray and Vonda Murray.
Surviving are his wife of 17 years, Faye Wilkinson of Palatka; a son, Steve Wilkinson (Donna) of Francis; two daughters, Joan Ward (Ibra) of Georgia and Peggy Floyd of Crescent Beach; two step-children, Danny Murray and Lynell Richardson; 10 grandchildren and spouses, Donnie Ward (Celeste), Anita Blair (Mike), Sherman Ward, April Padgett, Becky Kinman (Ricky), Shelby Baker (Elbert); Kari Bates (Benji), Daniel Whitaker, Deanna Mullins (R.J.), and Steve Wilkinson Jr; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka with Pastor Mike Stanley officiating.  The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. - an hour prior to the start of the service. Burial will follow in Etoniah Cemetery.
