Sherretta Lover Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hendersons Funeral & Cremation Care - Des Moines on Jan. 26, 2026.
Sherretta Kay "Sha" Doolin-Lover, 73, of Goodyear, Arizona, passed away on January 23, 2026. Born on February 8, 1952, in Des Moines, Iowa,

Sheretta was born to Edmon (Pete) Triplett and Nawasa Alsina Davis and was also lovingly raised by her father, David Thurman Davis." Sherretta's life was a vibrant tapestry of service, strength, and unwavering love for her family and community.

A proud veteran of the United States Army, Sherretta served with distinction as a Specialist 4 in the Women's Army Corps (WAC). Her military service was a reflection of her deep sense of purpose and courage-qualities that would define her throughout her life. Known for standing firmly by her beliefs, she approached every chapter with boldness and integrity.

Sherretta's educational journey reflected her dedication to growth and service. She graduated from North High School and went on to earn an Associate in Applied Science from Metropolitan Community College. She later completed a Bachelor of Science degree at Bellevue University. Her academic pursuits also included certifications in Human Services, Chemical Dependency Counseling, Mental Health/Dual Diagnosis Perspective, and Affordable Housing Management through AHMA of Iowa/Nebraska.

Her professional life was equally diverse and impactful. Sherretta built a meaningful career that spanned Military service and roles at Crown Industrial in Omaha, National Farmers Insurance Company in Denver, West Telemarketing in Omaha, and New Creations Transitional Living. In each position, she brought compassion, diligence, and a commitment to helping others.

Faith played a central role in Sherretta's life. She was an active member of The Carpenter House of Worship (The CHOW Church) in Avondale, Arizona. She received a Certificate of Appreciation for her service in the Intercessory Ministry-an honor she held dear. Her devotion to spiritual growth was evident through her completion of the PFB Systematic Bible Study Program and her many contributions to ministry work.

In her younger years, Sherretta enjoyed playing flag football and basketball and had a passion for playing the drums. As time went on, she found joy in traveling-especially cruises-and shopping for others. Her "Sober Girl" adventures were a source of pride and celebration. The Golden Girls cousin trips brought her so much happiness, wrapped in love, laughter, hugs, and unforgettable memories." Above all else, she cherished time spent with her grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, loving each one as if they were her own.

Sherretta leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her husband David Lover; son David Doolin(Miriam); mother Nawasa A. Davis; nieces/daughters Tenisha "Nish" Edwards and Netta(Triplett)Rankins; grandchildren Alexis, David Angelo, AJ, Leilani Joy, Derrick "Mo," Nathaniel, and Aliaze; siblings Garnetta K. Edwards, Daveda Anderson-Ervin, Kevin Davis, Timothy Rice, Markis Davis, Chardenay Davis, and Brittania Davis, Mary Ann (Triplett) Thomas, Edmon Triplett, Jr.; sister-in-law Cheryl Wilson; sisters at heart Janet Paschal and Lisa Ridgeway; God-son Adrian Kenney along with numerous nieces and nephews; cousins; and a host of friends whose lives were touched by her kindness.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather Harvey P. Fearson, Joe E. Turley; grandmother Ruby Willis; fathers Edmon "Pete" Triplett and David Thurman Davis; siblings Harvey Dewayne Davis, Dyan Lynette Triplett, Carla Kay Triplett; and niece Sage Wright.

Those who knew Sherretta remember her as generous and loving-with a heart as expansive as her spirit. She was honest to the core-never one to leave others uncertain of where they stood. Her legendary stubbornness was often endearing and always rooted in deep care for those around her. Her beauty radiated both inside and out.

Sherretta's legacy is one of resilience, love, and fierce loyalty. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.

Funeral services are still pending.
