Sherrie Witherbee

Sherrie Witherbee, age 63, of Lengby, MN, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, August 24th, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 7th, at Bethel Assembly Church in Fosston with Pastor Seth Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Mahnomen, MN, at a later date. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Friday, September 6th, at the Carlin Funeral Home in Fosston. There will also be reviewal for one hour prior to the service on Saturday (7th) at the church. Sherrie Lea Sorgaard was born on August 1, 1961, in Fosston, Minnesota to parents Marvin and Eunice (Preisler) Sorgaard. She grew up on a farm six miles east of Bejou, Minnesota and attended Mahnomen Public School through the eleventh grade. She moved to Karlstad, Minnesota before her Senior year and graduated from high school there in 1979. 

Sherrie was married to Rod Brown on August 15, 1980. To this marriage, two children were born, Candice and Travis. Early on, she lived in various places, including on the east coast, St. Paul, and Nebraska, though most of her life has been in the area. Sherrie worked mainly in service-related jobs. She worked as a housekeeper (she actually enjoyed cleaning), as a waitress, at Nord's in Fosston, and with Prairie Lane Ride Service. 

She was united in marriage to Jeff Witherbee on December 10, 2013. They lived near Lengby and, for the past 10 years, have worked together in their lawn mowing business. 

Sherrie was truly a "people person" and a social butterfly. She was known for generously giving out hugs and cheek kisses and introducing people. She loved spending time with family and friends at their lake place on Island Lake. Most of all, though, Sherrie loved her grandchildren. All of them meant the world to her. 

Survivors include her husband, Jeff, of Lengby, MN; her two children, Candice (Chad) Straub of McIntosh, MN, and Travis Brown of Lengby, MN; three step-children, Jake (Sarah) Witherbee of Atlanta, GA, Matt (Jenna) Witherbee of Annandale, MN, and Megan (Rob) Smith of Buffalo, MN; 11 grandchildren, Taydin, Spencer, Paisley, Weston, Aubrey, Wyatt, Blake, Liam, Sienna, Sylvie, and Ory; seven siblings, Robin (Lyndon) Bendickson, Teresa Kulzer, Stacey (Wayne) Savig, Vaughn Wibbels, Renee Johnson, Vernette Johnson, and Joni Marschel. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Eunice Sorgaard; step-mother, Judy Sorgaard; brother-in-law, Daniel Marschel; and sister-in-law, Marion Wibbels.
