Sherry Lee Budz, born July 15th,1945 left this physical world on June 11th, 2025 at the age of 79 years old. She was surrounded by her loving family during her journey home. She is now with her husband, Robert Michael Budz, with whom she shared love and life for over 50 years. She will be with her father, Samuel Littlefield, and her mom Doris Littlefield. She will be held again by her loving grandmother, Francis Lathrop Heaton. She will meet her adopted daughter, Sharon DuTremble, and her twin sisters, Diana Arnold and Doris Merriam, as well as her brother Samuel Littlefield will all be there to greet her.
Sherry is survived by her daughter, Penny Lee Kelly of Bristol, Connecticut, along with her son- in-law, Cyril Amakihe, her beloved dog child Toby; her grandchild, Katie Amanda Kelly of Seymour, Connecticut;
her sister, Debbie Rosacker, and her brother- in-law, Aaron Rosacker of Moosup, CT; her sister-in-law Anita Hubley and her brother-in-law, John Hubley of South Windsor, CT; her adopted granddaughters Anita DuTremble and Kay Harris; along with many, many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, cousins, and many chosen family.
Sherry grew up in Bozrah, CT and also in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
She loved riding horses and spending time with her grandmother in PA.
Growing up she spent her life with her mom and dad, brother Sam, and eventually sister Debbie who was born when Sherry was 14 years old.
Sherry and Bob met at the Taftville Drive in and were married at Grace Episcopal Church in Yantic, CT April 6th, 1968. They lived on Sunnyside in Yantic, CT until they moved to
Jewett City, Connecticut in 1974 and they lived on Donald Street for the rest of their marriage.
Sherry was a nurse's aide in Norwich during her single years, and then was a homemaker raising her daughter, Penny. She found Literacy Volunteers, and with her tutor Linda Turner, learned to read at the age of 28, alongside five year old Penny. She taught her child the importance of education.
She worked as a housekeeper at Norwich Motel, which eventually became the Norwich Marriott, for over 30 years.
Sherry was a gifted artist and loved oil painting. She made cool sugar Easter eggs you could look inside. Sherry baked sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies and Joe Froggers which were her favorites to share. She was a great mom who always loved her family, children, and neighbors coming to visit her home.
After the death of her husband in 2018, she moved into the home of her daughter, Penny Kelly and her son-in-law Cyril Amakihe, and resided with them in Bristol, Connecticut, the rest of her life. She brought her beloved dog Toby with her as Toby had been the last friend of both Bob and Sherry.
Sherry spent a lot of time with the Griswold Senior Center and when she moved to Bristol, spent many days at the Bristol Senior Center as well including their stroke club. She loved to share her drawing and painting, and especially liked to share her art with the senior center community.
As her illness progressed, she was provided loving care at Forestville dialysis in Bristol, Connecticut and spent many times in rehab at The Pines in Bristol. She was grateful for all the exceptional care, which provided an extension of her life for 7 more wonderful years, allowing her the gift of walking her daughter down the aisle at her wedding in 2022.
She leaves everyone still here in the physical world behind with her great love in our hearts.
We invite you to come celebrate her life with us on Wednesday, June 18th, at 10 AM at Griswold Funeral home in
Jewett city, Connecticut. We will receive you starting at 10 AM and the service will be at 10:30 AM with words from her family. Please come to share your memories with us of this beautiful soul. We request to bring only yellow roses with you as those for her favorite. After the service, you're invited to walk your roses to Dean's corner where we will share a brunch meal in her memory at the place Sherry and Bob had breakfast every morning in their later years. They used to sit outside of the restaurant with their little dog, Toby. After the brunch, we will drive to Maplewood Cemetery to bury her above the love of her life, Bob.
