Visit the McDougal Funeral Home website to view the full obituary.

Sherry Ada Burt, born on October 22, 1946, in Spokane, Washington to Ruth and Charles Schurman, passed away peacefully on August 8, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was reunited in death with her beloved husband, Michael Burt, and her three children, Joseph, Brandon, and Christopher.

Sherry's mother passed away in her youth, and she was then lovingly raised by her Grandma Ada and Grandpa George Loucks, whom she cherished dearly. She attended Brigham Young University, where she met her future husband, Michael.

She is survived by her children John, Kara, and Nick, who will continue to honor her legacy of love, faith, and dedication. Sherry and Michael raised their children in South Jordan, Utah where they lived for about 25 years, creating a home filled with warmth and love.

In addition to her own children, Sherry raised many foster children and was a loving mother to her adopted daughter, Brandi, and her children. Sherry was also blessed with 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Sherry took her duties as a wife, mother, and housekeeper seriously, and she excelled at them all. She loved to cook, bake, sew, craft, garden, and shop. Her passion for flowers, especially tulips and lilies, was evident in the vibrant gardens she tended. Her favorite thing in the world was working in the yard, particularly in her herb garden, where she found peace and joy. She also loved watching storms from the back porch, where she'd marvel at the power of nature.

Sherry was known for throwing elaborate parties and spent countless summer days canning peaches and tomatoes, ensuring her family would enjoy the fruits of her labor all year long. Her laugh was the favorite sound of everyone who knew her, a warm and joyful expression that brought light and happiness to all around her.

Throughout her life, Sherry worked various jobs, including serving as a librarian at Bingham High School. However, her most cherished roles were that of a devoted mother and wife. She loved the Lord and was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, dedicating her life to serving others and living her faith.

A viewing will be held on Friday, August 16, 8:30-9:15 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 9:30 a.m. at the LDS Meetinghouse located at 14172 Emmeline Dr, Herriman, Utah. Graveside service will immediately follow the funeral at the Herriman City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Salt Lake City Mission, which was instrumental in helping her son Joseph find sobriety. Donations can be made at https://saltlakecitymission.org/, honoring Sherry's commitment to helping others. If you prefer to send flowers, please contact Nick at 385-209-7285 for the mailing address.

Sherry Ada Burt will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire and guide us.
