Sherry Lynn Doepker, 62, of Perrysburg, passed away peacefully on February 19th 2026 at her home, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born March 27, 1963 in Toledo, Ohio to Howard and Miriam (Birr) Sommers.
Sherry and her brother William bought their Father’s Insurance Agency after their father retired and continued to grow the business. Sherry dedicated her professional life to serving others at Sommers Insurance Agency, where she built lasting relationships with her clients and was known for her integrity, compassion, and commitment to helping families protect what mattered most.
Sherry enjoyed playing games of all kinds — whether yard games in the summer sunshine, card games around the kitchen table, or lively board games with family and friends. She loved to entertain and host gatherings, always welcoming others into her home with warmth and joy. Her parties were known for their incredible spreads of delicious food and drinks, thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented.
Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she poured her heart into the season each year. Sherry would bake for days on end, making more than 4,000 cookies to share with family and friends — a true labor of love that became a treasured tradition. She embraced life fully, but her greatest and most cherished role was being a devoted mother and a proud Nana, a title she wore with immeasurable love and joy.
She is survived by her loving husband of 13 years, Jeffrey Doepker; children, Alexis Wingate, Steven Wingate, and Erica (Dalton) Giesige; stepchildren, Jackie (Nate) Graff and Jenna Doepker; grandchildren, Kali, John, Luke, Eva, and Declan; siblings, William (Cheryl) Sommers, Linda (Al) Smith, and Karen (Scott) McPherson. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends and family will be received Friday, February 27th, from 2–7 p.m. at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 E. South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, where visitation will continue Saturday, February 28th, from 10–11 a.m., with a memorial service beginning at 11 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made in Sherry’s name to The Glioblastoma Foundation. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.walkerfuneralhomes.com.
