Sherry Erick Obituary
Sherry lived a traditional Gwich'in way of life, being raised in Venetie with her siblings: Virginia, John, Vera, Ernest, Earl, Dennis, Mildred, Robert, Richard, and Jimmy. She was a proud Neets'aii Gwich'in and continued to carry her traditional values everywhere she went. Sherry was always laughing and willing to help others in their times of need. She was so proud of her kids and her grandchildren and loved them deeply. She spent many years in Fairbanks and Circle and could always be seen making jokes to bring people laughter. She loved her people.
Sherry leaves behind her children: Eugina Crow (Lawrence), Alex Joseph, Darren Erick, and Michael (Chris) Thompson; grandchildren: Lawrence (Stinky Boy) Crow and Elora (Baby Bush) Crow; siblings: Virginia Peter, John Erick, Jr., Ernest (Donna) Erick, Earl (Alberta) Erick, Sr., Dennis Erick, Mildred (Benjamin) Peter, Robert (Kathy) and Richard (Sherry); and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins that she loved dearly.
Sherry is preceded in death by her parents, John Erick, Sr. and Maggie; granddaughter, Ashlyn Mary Crow; brother, James (Freda) Erick; sister, Vera (Gene) Englishoe; in-laws, Walter and Judy; niece, Dawn and Gina; nephews, Earl, Jr., Anthony, Wayne, Steve, Jr., Clyde, and Gregory.
A viewing and short service will be held in Fairbanks on Monday, February 10, 2025, with the viewing starting at 11 a.m. and the service at noon at Fairbanks Funeral Home and Crematory.
A final funeral service and burial will be held in Venetie, Alaska at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church on February 11, 2025.
