Sherry Ellene Gernat

Sherry Ellene (Williams) Sherrill Gernat was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 31, 2025. Sherry was born in Tullahoma to Earl and Dean Williams. She held strong to her Christian beliefs and was a life-long member of First Baptist Church. Sherry loved children and was a dedicated employee of the Tullahoma School System for over 30 years preceding her retirement in 2019. She started her career with the School System in the 1980's working in the Extended School Program. She would later go on to work at Tullahoma High School as the attendance secretary, and ended her tenure with the Tullahoma School System at East Middle School as a teacher's assistant. On March 12, 2019, Sherry married the love of her life, Joe Gernat. She loved the beach better than any other place on Earth and could spend hours sitting and simply listening to the waves.
The one thing Sherry loved more than the beach was her family. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Dean and Earl Williams and her sister, Janice Baldwin (Fred). Sherry leaves behind a legacy in her name through her son James "Ernie" Sherrill (Stacey), three grandchildren: Bethany Grace, Jackson Earl, and Riley Belle Sherrill. She is also survived by her sister Pat Lund (Larry) and her brother Jimmy Williams (Linda) and eight nieces and nephews: Lisa (Richie) Sons, Scott (Ginger) Lund, Angie (Tommy) Morelock, Matt Williams, Mark (Stephnie) Williams, Dana (JP) King, Drew (Leah) Baldwin, Dawn (Kevin) Callas, along with her friend/adopted daughter/caregiver Faith (Luke) Hendrix.
Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. followed by service at 1:00 p.m. on February 8th, 2025, at First Baptist Church, 108 E. Grundy Street, Tullahoma, TN 37388, reception to follow.
