In Loving Memory of Sherry Lynn Goodson
On Thursday, October 3rd, 2024, Sherry Lynn Goodson passed away peacefully in her hometown of Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born on March 30th, 1956, in Dallas, Texas, and throughout her life, she cultivated a deep love for music, embracing all genres with enthusiasm. Sherry was also an avid reader and had a special fondness for silver jewelry and shoes, little details that reflected her vibrant and unique personality. Above all, Sherry was deeply devoted to her family. She cherished her roles as a mother and grandmother, always treasuring the time spent with her loved ones. Sherry loved her precious dog and constant companion Roanie Rose. Her warmth, kindness, and generous spirit touched everyone who knew her, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of crossing paths with her. Sherry will be profoundly missed. She is survived by her beloved children, Jenna Goodson and Courtney Barnett, both of Fort Smith, Arkansas; her cherished grandchildren, Corey Parks of Conway, Arkansas, and Cierra Parks of Fort Smith, Arkansas; and her great-grandchildren, Adrian Cole and Oaklyn Billings. She also leaves behind her brothers, Ron Wardrup, Randy Wardrup, and his wife, Denise, all of Fort Smith, and Steve Clark of Van Buren, Arkansas; her sister, Terri Sterling of Fort Smith; her mother, Mary Clark of Fort Smith; and her significant other, Kenneth Hixson of Van Buren, Arkansas. Sherry will be greatly missed by numerous nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends. Sherry was preceded in death by her father, Bill Clark; her brothers, Charles Johnson, Michael Clark and Gary Clark; and sister Sheri Brown and Susan Robbins. A Celebration of Life service, officiated by Pastor TaShala Devarow, on Friday, October 18th, 2024, 2:00 p.m., at the River Glenn Chapel, located at 1805 North A Street in Fort Smith. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to The Fort Smith Animal Haven at fsmah.org.

Sherry was my aunt. She was also my best friend. I love her very much and it hurt me more than I thought possible when I watched how frail she looked. My aunt was a strong woman and a beautiful woman. But Cancer is a disease that took her life too soon. While I'm glad she's no longer hurting, it hurts me to know she's not here. But I know she's among the angels and for that, I'm glad.
