Kim Barnes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by River Glenn Cremations & Funeral Services on Mar. 10, 2026.
In Remembrance of a Beloved Soul

Kim Leslie Barnes, lovingly known as "Kimmy," passed away peacefully at her home in Fort Smith, Arkansas, at the age of 70. Kim was born on January 31, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois, to Howard Humbles and Margaret Caroline Strombach. Throughout her life, Kim was known for her caring spirit, warm heart, and genuine love for people. She was kind, funny, and even through the many trials she faced in life, she never stopped trying. Kim always shared her light and love with others, touching many lives for the better.

She spent much of her working life in the service industry, where she found great joy in helping others. Kim worked at Gateway, Esther House, Loise Law, Goodwill, and several restaurants over the years. No matter where she worked, she was known for her kindness and willingness to serve those around her.

Kim deeply cherished spending time with her church friends and with her family. Her faith meant everything to her. She loved the Lord and shared His tenderness and compassion with everyone she met. Kim had a special gift for meeting people exactly where they were in life. She never judged others or gave up on them and always tried to be a light in someone's darkness.

She is survived by her three children: Tara Berg and her husband Jason Berg of Rogers, Arkansas; John Fuller II of Fort Smith, Arkansas; and Jared Fuller of Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was a proud grandmother to Megean, Breona, Ronnie, Elaine, Chelsea, and Jessa, and a loving great-grandmother to Ryleigh Grace, Jason Taylor, Jax Steven, Blaykleigh Renee, Adalynn Mae, Lillian Rae, Charli Faye, and Charlotte Eloise. She is also survived by her nieces Tiffany and Melanie, her nephew Greg, and many dear friends whose lives she touched.

Kim was preceded in death by her father, Howard Humbles Sr.; her mother, Margaret Humbles; her former husband, John Fuller I; her sister, Pam Shelby; her brother, Howie Humbles; her son, Gary; and her grandson, Brodie Berg.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Southpointe Church, 1101 Cavanaugh Road, Fort Smith, Arkansas. Pastor Lee Prince and Brother Mike Kimberling will officiate. Fellowship with food will follow the service.

Kim's legacy of compassion, love, faith, and perseverance will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She had a way of brightening a room and reminding people that they mattered. And as Kim would often say with a smile, "I'm as cute as a button."

Flowers will need to be sent to Southpointe Church.
