POMEROY-- Sherry (Holt) Goodwin, left this world on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.
She was born on October 11, 1955, to Shirley Ann Holt.
When she was fourteen years old, her grandparents, William R. and Helen E. (Sprouse) Holt adopted her making her biological mother and aunts her sisters by adoption.
After dating him since she was fourteen years old, Sherry married Gene Goodwin one week after her high school graduation. She was his very cute girlfriend, pretty fiancée, beautiful bride and the best wife any man could ask for. She took Cosmetology in high school and won scholarships for furthering her training but never used it because she married Gene, the love of her life, instead.
Sherry was a wonderful seamstress and loved to crochet doilies and Christmas ornaments along with afghans. She would help Gene hang drywall, clean cars, help with auto mechanical work, auto body work and even auto paint work for Goodwin’s Auto Sales. Sherry also loved to go fishing and deer hunting until a hip surgery crippled her in 2021. She was an excellent cook and baker. She loved to raise many vegetables and berries in her gardens over the years and canned and froze many foods. It just seems like there was nothing that Sherry couldn’t do and what she did, she did well.
Wherever Sherry went people could see the love of Christ shining from her, whether it be in school, on her newspaper route, at the car lot and car auctions, on her farm or at the churches where she and Gene would attend. Sherry’s light always shined bright and she was loved by many people.
Sherry is survived by her loving husband Gene Goodwin; son, Nicholas Joe Goodwin and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her adopted parents, William and Helen Holt, she was preceded in death by her son, Nathan Eugene Goodwin; her sisters by adoption, Mary Jane (Tom) Selbe,
Shirley Ann (Ray) Legg, Wilma Jean (Tom) Dodds, Karen Sue (Mayford) Harris, Margaret (Charles) Jones and brother by adoption, Joseph Holt.
