Glenarm - Sherry Jo Powers, 73, of Glenarm, Illinois, passed away Friday, March 20, 2026, at her home. Sherry was born Aug. 30, 1952 in Thayer, Missouri, the daughter of Charles and Patricia Anderson Harriell. She married Thomas A. Powers on March 13, 1971, in Springfield. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Tom, in 2025.

Sherry graduated from Southeast High School in Springfield and was a clerk for the United States Postal Service for more than 20 years. Sherry loved going to auctions, shopping for antiques and playing Texas Holdem.

Sherry is survived by two sons, Derek (wife, Theresa) Powers and Spencer Powers, both of Springfield; three grandchildren, Aiden and Cole and Alexis (husband, Clint) Gorden; one sister, Vicky Matthews, of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sherry's family will meet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Curry Funeral Home in Pawnee. A private burial will be at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to any local food pantry of your choice.
