Sherry Subach passed away peacefully in her daughter's home on January 15, 2025. She had recently celebrated her 87th birthday. For the last several years, Sherry lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Jeannine and Troy, as she bravely faced Alzheimer's disease and a rare cancer. Sherry was born in Savannah, MO, to James and Vyril Wright and spent most of her childhood and High School years in the small town of Ft. Pierre, SD. In June of 1956, Sherry joined the Air Force and was part of the 1611th Air Transport Wing (MATS). While serving, she met her future husband Albert "Al" Subach. Sherry and Al married on April 26th, 1957, and Sherry would later be honorably discharged from the Air Force to start their family. Sherry was dedicated to supporting her husband in his almost 25-year career in the Air Force and raising their children while he was away. During this time, Sherry and Al moved many times and met many friends who became their military family. Toward the end of her husband's military career, they moved to Colorado, where they welcomed their youngest daughter in 1970. Sherry was a dedicated and loving mother to her three children. Sherry worked in banking and the mortgage industry for many years. Sherry's love of helping seniors through her volunteer work led her to take a job at Silver Key Senior Services where she became a volunteer coordinator. Sherry retired after the loss of her husband and would help her daughter at her small business from time to time. Sherry enjoyed socializing with her husband and their military friends and later in life with the many friends she made at the Fountain Valley Senior Center. She loved listening and dancing to classic country music, having Pinochle parties, reading, and collecting angels. Sherry will be remembered for her kindness, sense of humor, sense of fashion, and her love of bright colors. Sherry was preceded in death by her Parents, her beloved husband of 45 years, Al, her granddaughter Lauren Anderson, and many other relatives and friends. Sherry is survived by her brother Jimmy Wright, her niece Dawn Refior, her three children Brenda (Jay) Harrell, Allen Subach, and Jeannine (Troy) Vanderhoff, her grandchildren Kassandra Rodriguez, Caroline Hammer, and Zachary Anderson. Sherry's daughter, Jeannine, would like to express her sincere gratitude for the compassionate care provided to her mother by the Compassus hospice team, especially CNA Shawndra who was by Sherry's side when she passed. A Military Honor Service will be held for Sherry and her late husband Al on April 18th at 1:00 at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery, where they will be laid to rest together. There will be no other services. A Veterans Legacy Memorial page has been created at www.vlm.cem.va.gov for Sherry along with her late husband Al where pictures and comments can be shared by family and friends.
