Sheryl Jean (Cushman) Maus was born on November 14, 1943, in Storm Lake, Iowa, to Darrell and Ruth (McCoy) Cushman. She was baptized in Spencer, Iowa. Her family later moved to rural Boyd/Milan before settling in Watson, Minnesota, where she was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church. Sheryl graduated from Milan High School in 1961.
On June 27, 1964, she was united in marriage to Francis Maus at Watson Lutheran Church. When Francis was called to service, Sheryl moved to Montevideo, where she made her home for more than 60 years. She worked as a secretary for a local law office and for the Chippewa County FSA Farm Services. After taking time away from work to start and raise her family, Sheryl returned to the workforce, spending many years at Gibson/Pamida until its closing. She later joined Red Owl/County Market, where she served as the head cake decorator.
Sheryl loved playing games, dancing, bowling, cards, and enjoying coffee with friends at Java River. Above all, she cherished her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her three children: Michelle (Jon) Mills of St. Cloud, Steven (Karla) Maus of Montevideo, and Julie Maus of Montevideo; two grandchildren, Samantha Mills and Jonathon Mills; and her sister, Jolene (Thomas) Phillips of Park Rapids and Fern Stegeman (sister in-law) of Clara City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Maus; her parents, Ruth and Darrell Cushman; and her brothers, Larry and Timothy and many sisters and brothers in-law.
