Sheryl Slanec Obituary

Published by A.H. Peters Funeral Home - Grosse Pointe Woods on Mar. 23, 2017.
Sheryl K. Slanec, 50, earned her wings after a long, strong battle with cancer on Thursday March 23, 2017, surrounded by her loving daughter Gabriella and her sweet dog Alec. Sheryl was born in Detroit Michigan on May 15, 1966, to Kathleen Taggart and the late Richard Taggart. Sheryl was a cosmetologist for over 30 years, she specialized in color and loved creating new looks for her clients. Sheryl had quite the green thumb, anything she planted would grow to be big, healthy, and beautiful, especially her giant sunflowers. In Sheryls free time she enjoyed watching Lifetime movies and the Food Network with her daughter, playing with her dog Alec, and going to the Zoo on summer days. Sheryl had a personality and a smile that would light up the darkest of rooms, her heart and ears were always open to anyone. Surviving is her loving daughter, Gabriella Slanec of Fort Wayne; Mother Kathleen Taggart (Salter) of Eastpointe; Ex husband Scott Slanec of Grosse Pointe; Sister Michelle Accardo (Jack) of Grosse Pointe; Brother Michael Taggart of Eastpointe; Nieces, Allison Accardo, and Brooke Accardo; Nephews, Nicholas Accardo, Tristan Taggart, Brendan Taggart and Parker Accardo. Sheryl was preceded in death by her father Richard Taggart. A mass in Sheryls honor will be held Saturday, April 1st, 2017 at Old Saint Mary Catholic Church at 10 am., Father Fredrick Taggart. Memorials may be made out to Van Elslander Cancer Center.

I love you baby. You know. I'm sorry. I think of you every day, every day. I think of Gabby and want to help her but don't know how. You, and her, will always remain in my heart, forever. I love you
