Sheryl Walsh Obituary

Sheryl S. Walsh, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025 at Rhode Island Hospital.

Born on December 11, 1947, in Ilion, NY, she brought joy to the world with her love for music, dedication to her faith, and warmth towards those fortunate to know her. Sheryl was a longtime communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church, where she served as the Music Director for over 40 years. Her passion for music led her to attend the Boston Conservatory of Music and become a lifelong music educator, imparting her wisdom and love for music through private piano and voice lessons.

She cherished spending time with her grandchildren, and treasured her role as "Gigi" to her great granddaughter and their frequent breakfast dates, playing piano for leisure, dancing with her daughter and granddaughter, solving crossword puzzles, reading books, and playing Uno with her grandchildren. To know Sheryl was to feel loved, and her legacy will live on through the music she shared and the love she instilled in her family.

Sheryl leaves behind her devoted husband, Peter Walsh of Attleboro; her three children, Chris Walsh and his wife Beth of Franklin, Casey Walsh and his wife Linda of Franklin, and Amy Diaz and her husband Pete of Attleboro; her five adoring grandchildren, Vanessa Murphy and her husband Robert of Attleboro, Logan Walsh, Emma Walsh, Nicholas Walsh and Taryn Walsh all of Franklin; her beloved great-granddaughter, Ella Murphy of Attleboro. She also leaves behind her siblings, Claudia Swaider of Cranston, RI, Ann McNamara of CA, Mary D'Agostino of Attleboro and George Durant of Middleboro.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Helen Durant and her two brothers, James and Edward Durant.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Duffy-Poule Funeral and Cremation Services, 20 Peck Street, Attleboro, MA.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main Street, Attleboro, MA. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery, 165 West Street, Attleboro, MA.

Sending condolences to Cheryl's family. I met Sheryl through T.I. exercise classes. She was definitely one of the kindest people I've every met, always laughing and bringing sunshine to those around her. I am truly saddened to hear of her passing.
