Shirley Marie Allred, 86, of Stevens Point, formerly of Iola went to her heavenly home on January 11, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was born on September 26, 1936 in the Town of Harrison, Waupaca County, daughter of the late Arthur & Edith (Helgeson) Gutho.
Shirley enjoyed sewing, crocheting, canning fruits and vegetables, baking Norwegian pastries, cake decorating, traveling, and spending time with her family. She had a special love for her dogs and for cardinal watching. She was a devoted member of the Northland Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and always enjoyed her time working for the annual lutefisk supper.
She is survived by her children: Russ (Jody) Allred of Plover, Steve (Vicki) Allred of Iola, Jamie Allred of Stevens Point, and Chris (Tracey) Allred of Iola; 8 grandchildren: Kristin (Matthew) Bestul, Danielle (Jose) Arroyo, Kenan Allred, Cole (Mallorie) Allred, Collin (Kaitlyn) Allred, Brett Allred, Brooke Allred, and Kayla Allred; as well as 8 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Vonnie Gutho.
She was preceded in death by siblings: Ellrey (Phyllis) Gutho, Dorothy (Harvey) Kernen, Russell (Karen) Gutho, Delores Gutho, Geraldine (Edwin) Schuh, Joyce (Everett) Abel, and Maynard Gutho.
A Memorial Service for Shirley will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Northland Lutheran Church with Reverend Dan Somers officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 AM until the time of service. Inurnment of cremains will be at Northland Lutheran Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Inclusa, Maple Ridge Memory Care of Plover, ProMedica Heartland Hospice, and the many other people involved in Shirley's care. Your support and compassion are greatly appreciated.
