Shirley Gaye Barnes, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, passed away on Friday, November 3, 2023. She was born on May 22, 1935, in Ogden, UT and attended the public school system in Evanston, WY.
She married Jesse R. Barnes on September 11, 1954. Together they raised three children in Bountiful, Utah.
After 27 years of working as a Secretary at Muir Elementary and Knowlton Elementary she retired to spend time with family and friends. She loved to golf and did so with many friends at Oakridge Country Club and later in St. George, UT where they lived for 18 years.
She was an active member of Eastern Star and PEO in Bountiful and St. George, UT.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Jesse R. Barnes.
She is survived by her brother Craig Burdett (Layton, UT), two daughters Kim (Scott) Evans, Keely (Frank) Inga and one son Kevin (Andrea) Barnes, eight grandchildren Christy, Jody, Brett, Cassie, Cory, Bailee, Megan, and Madeleine and 12 great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary 727 North 400 East, Bountiful, UT at 11:00 am on Thursday, November 16, 2023, where friends may gather one hour prior to service. Graveside services will take place immediately following.
