Shirley Ann King Barton, age 72, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025. She was born on August 12, 1952 in DeFuniak Springs, Florida to Samuel and Beulah King.
She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Shery Barton; four sons – Keith (Bonnie), Kenneth (Bobbie), Ben (Jenny), and Mike. Shirley is also survived by six grandchildren: CJ, John, Kalomb, Josie, Rilee, and Nicolas; as well as 2 great grandchildren, Eden and Kambrie; one brother Tyron King and one sister Winnie Robertson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Shirley was a WONDERFUL and devoted wife and mother. Her love for her boys was without measure. They each thought they were her favorite, as that is exactly how she made them feel. She was small in stature, but fierce. She had a great passion for her chickens and her animals as well as talking on the phone and various crafts including quilting and sewing. Shirley was a traditional southern cook, making full meals daily and hosting family dinners every week with fresh vegetables she grew in her garden. Each meal was like Thanksgiving dinner. She never met a stranger and had what many would call “the gift of gab.”
