Shirley Mae Blevins 6/04/1939 – 6/12/2025 Kimball, Tennessee Shirley Mae Blevins, 86, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at Valley View Assisted Living. She fought a long hard battle with a brain tumor. She never gave up hope trusting in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to see her through. She was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Effie Turney. She was a member of the Kimball Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Chester Eugene Blevins; parents, Gilbert and Effie Turney; grandparents, Gilbert and Beulah Hudson and Haywood and Lillie Turney; brother-in-law, Don Hill and nephew, Nathan Eric Turney. She is survived by her daughter, Shereen (Blane) Stewart; granddaughter, Aspen (Justin) Rains; great-grandchildren, Brylie Rains and Braden Rains; sister, Kathlyn Hill, brother, Jim (Carolyn) Turney; sister-in-law, Patricia (Jack) Keef, nephews, Bob Hill, James Ed Hill, and Seth Turney; niece, Kayley Turney. Caregivers: Carolyn Turney, Joanie Spangler, and Sherri Thomas. Longtime special friend Helen Brooks. She graduated from South Pittsburg High School and worked for Marion County Executive for several years, before her retirement from South Pittsburg Housing Authority after 40 plus years of service. Shirley spent her life dedicated to the things she loved – reading and studying her Bible; family; friends, singing in the church choirs; traveling; playing cards (Rook, Bridge and Pinochle); and square dancing with Chester. Nothing gave her greater joy than spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren. She loved Jesus Christ as her Savior. She was an avid fan of the Tennessee Vols and Atlanta Braves. She touched the lives of many with her love, kindness, care and knowledge. She spent her last year at Valley View Assisted Living, where she received excellent care. The staff was wonderful and always willing to provide for her every need. She made many new friends and enjoyed her short time with her special friends, Betty Jones and Dot Seals. Gentiva Hospice has been an excellent team of caregivers in mom's last few months of life. They were always willing to listen and provide comfort and support to the family. Funeral services will be conducted from the Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home in
South Pittsburg, Tennessee on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. (CST) with Bro. Bruce Howland and Dwain (Eli) Blevins officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. (CDT) prior to the funeral service in the South Pittsburg Chapel. Interment will be at Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers: Jeff Keef, Larry White, Brian Stewart, Zach Stewart, Johnny Matthews and Billy (Squeal) King. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Kimball Baptist Church Building Fund or
