Shirley Ann "Nana" (Erickson) Bogard, 92, born September 4, 1933, in Rochester, PA passed peacefully at Concordia Villa St. Joseph Personal Care, in Baden, PA on October 12, 2025.
Shirley was a lifelong resident of Center Township (Stobo), a graduate of Monaca High School, bowled in a women's league, worked at Phoenix Glass until the birth of her son in 1963, when she became a full-time homemaker. Shirley was a legacy member of VanKirk Lutheran Church (Stobo), of which her father was a founding member who acquired the church bell that still remains part of the building today. To say Shirley was an animal lover is an understatement, especially when it came to her brood of pugs (Katie, Louie, and Tipper) who enjoyed her home-cooking as much as her family did.
Surviving Shirley is her daughter Beth (Bogard) Timco in North Carolina, and her granddaughter, Emily Bogard, who was named in honor of Shirley's father, Emil.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Ruth (Peasner) Erickson, her husband John D. Bogard, Jr., and her son, John D. Bogard, III.
A celebration of life service will be held at VanKirk Lutheran Church in Center Township on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at 4 pm, followed by fellowship and a few of Shirley's favorite foods and dessert.
In lieu of flowers, for those that wish to honor Shirley's memory, donations to the Beaver County Humane Society are greatly appreciated.
In addition to her love of animals, Shirley enjoyed shopping, cooking (which she learned from her dear friend and neighbor Lena), beautifying her yard, rocking on her front porch swing in the summer listening to the birds, with her pug(s) on her lap, and her Emily by her side. She was down to earth, honest, successfully managed her checkbook to the penny every month and had a filter (or lack thereof) that waned with time and made everyone smile.
Thanks to the numerous caregivers and medical professionals who cared for Shirley over the years, especially Dr. Amar Singh (retired) and granddaughter Emily, and her former daughter-in-law, Johnene (Folds) Petersen.
