Shirley Boggs-Lewis departed this life on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center of the Bluegrass at the age of 86.
Born July 26, 1938 in Leslie County, Kentucky to the union of the late Nick and Mattie Boggs, Shirley was a loving daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother. she was known for her kind hearted and selfless nature including her dedication to her family. She was a true homemaker who enjoyed working in her gardening, cooking, flower gardening, and spending time with her family.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Hurlen Lewis to whom she was married for 71 years. She was also preceded in death by her brothers: James, Johnny, Carl, Ben, and Forster. Ms. Shirley had these sisters preceding her in death as well: Lelia Mae Caldwell and Beulah Faye Caldwell and one son-in-law: Marshall Morgan.
She leaves surviving; three sisters: Irene Boggs, Gail Baker (Clayton), and Kay Farler; three daughters: Wanda Morgan, Linda Lewis, and Darlene Lewis; three grandchildren: Carrie Coots (Cheyenne), Jessica Wegford, and Joshua Joseph; six great-grandchildren: Chelsey Coots, Whitney Mize (Zach), Brandy Horn (Devin), Caitlyn Coots, Shawn Mize, and Courtney Joseph and eight great-great grandchildren.
Shirley also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, and friends; special niece: Rhonda Caldwell; and special little dog: Peanut.
Funeral services for Ms. Shirley Lewis will be held Sunday, July 27, 2025 at 2pm at the Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jamie Roberts officiating. A visitation for Ms. Shirley will be from 12 noon until 2pm.
Pallbearers: Josh Joseph, Jessica Wedgeford, Whitney Mize, Zach Saylor, Cheyenne Coots, and Shawn Mize
Funeral: Sunday, July 27, 2025 at 2pm at Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel
Visitation: Sunday, July 27, 2025 at 12 noon at Dwayne Walker Funeral Home Chapel
Clergy: Rev. Jamie Roberts
Interment: H & S Cemetery (Chinaberry) in Yeaddiss, Kentucky
