WADESBORO - On Friday, September 5, 2025, Mrs. Shirley Freeman Boyer, 82, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord while being cared for at Richmond County Hospice Haven in Rockingham.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM, Monday, September 8, 2025 in the Chapel of Leavitt Funeral Home with Rev. Barry Gerald officiating. Interment will follow in Anson Memorial Park.
The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Shirley was born September 30, 1942 in Anson County, NC and was a daughter of the late Callie Marshall Freeman and the late Billie Bernice Privette Freeman. She was a graduate of Lilesville High School and worked for a number of years with Abbey Manufacturing before owning and operating Shirley's Daycare for more than 30 years.
She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where she served as church secretary.
Shirley and her husband enjoyed traveling and seeing many different places. They made many lasting memories together and were looking forward to a trip to the beach before her health declined in the past few weeks.
Those who are left to cherish her memory are her husband of nearly 55 years, Ray Boyer; her brother and sister, Billy Freeman (Martha) of Mint Hill and Carol Boyer of Wadesboro; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Nancy Freeman of Burlington, Joe Boyer of Mt. Airy, Hazel Allred (Roger) of Stanfield, Nancy Starling of Virginia, Albert Boyer, Sue Boyer and Kendra Melton all of Wadesboro and her nieces and nephews and their families.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Jimmy Freeman and Tommy Freeman and by her brother-in-law, Bud Boyer.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Richmond County Hospice Haven in Rockingham for the wonderful way in which they cared for Shirley during the week before her passing.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Richmond County Hospice Haven, 1119 N US 1 HWY, Rockingham, NC 28379 or to Calvary Baptist Church, 430 Lansford Dr., Wadesboro, NC 28170.
