Cherryville bid farewell to a cherished soul on Thursday, February 1, 2024, as Shirley Neal Braddock, age 87, embarked on her eternal journey. She was born February 22, 1936, in Butler County, Ohio, to the late Russell Neal and Katherine Neal. Shirley was an embodiment of love and family devotion. Her unwavering commitment to caring for her family marked her as a pillar of strength and support. Her kitchen was a sanctuary where she passionately crafted delicious meals, a skill she generously imparted to her children and grandchildren, leaving an indelible mark on the family's culinary heritage. A lover of music across all genres, Shirley found solace in the melodies that accompanied her through life. Her Kindle, adorned with over 800 suspense and mystery novels, was a testament to her avid love for reading. Shirley's joy extended to spending quality time with her children and grandchildren, where her infectious laughter and gift of gab created an atmosphere of warmth and happiness.
Shirley is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 62 years, Michael Antione Braddock, and their loving children: Eric Michael Braddock (Adrienne), Mary Beth Thompson (Cris), and Sarah Neal Farley (Shannon). Her legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren: D.J. Caswell (Katelyn), Katie Beth Harrison (Lee), Michael Caswell (Hope), and Nathanael Thompson. Great grandchildren, Stella, Haddon, Neally, Knox, Judson, and Merrit Caswell, along with Aubree, Mason, and Oliver Harrison, and Braddock and Dove Caswell, were the lights of her life. Shirley's memory will forever be etched in the hearts of her many cousins and special family friends, Kelly Hancock and Peggy Trettel. Her beloved pets, Shorty, Jazzy, and Dancer, were constant companions bringing joy to her days.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home, where her grandson, Rev. D.J. Caswell will officiate the service. The family will honor Shirley with a private burial.
