Shirley Lancaster Bratcher, 82, of Owensboro, passed away on April 15, 2024, while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. Shirley was born on February 9, 1942, to the late W.D. and Louella Graves Lancaster. For five decades, Shirley dedicated herself to General Electric, serving as an executive secretary. Beyond her professional role, she embodied the spirit of giving back and actively participating in various community endeavors. At Mt. Zion Cumberland Presbyterian Church, she fulfilled the duties of secretary, contributing her time and skills for many years.
Shirley's zest for life extended far beyond her workplace and church commitments. She embarked on adventures across the globe, exploring the wonders of China and numerous European destinations. In her local community, she volunteered at Health Park and cherished the camaraderie of the Golden Partners group, relishing their shared travels.
An avid collector, Shirley's interests ranged from jewelry and art to glassware and puzzles. Her passion for aesthetics was also reflected in her meticulously maintained yard, a testament to her dedication to beauty and order.
Known for her independence and leadership qualities, Shirley approached life with determination and a compassionate spirit. Her love for others was evident in every aspect of her being, making her a cherished presence in the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie Glenn Bratcher, and sister, Nelda Reid.
She is survived by her brother, Darrell Lancaster; sister, Linda Folker, and her husband, Doug; nephews, Seth Lancaster and Joshua Reid; nieces, Stacey Folker and Kelly Folker; and great-niece, Rachel Folker.
The funeral for Shirley Bratcher will be at 12 pm Friday, April 19, 2024, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. The visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 until 12 on Friday. Burial will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
