Shirley Brossard Obituary

Shirley Ann Brossard

March 29, 1935 - April 11, 2025

CAMBRIA - Shirley Ann Brossard, age 90, a lifelong resident of Cambria, died peacefully on Friday, April 11, 2025 at the Randolph Health Services with family by her side.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Cambria. Burial will follow in Cambria Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on the family on Tuesday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.

Shirley was born at home in Cambria on March 29, 1935, the only child of Dana Franklin and Olive Ann (Smith) Albee. Shirley was a 1953 graduate of Cambria High School where she was involved in the band, playing clarinet and was the band's majorette. Following high school, she worked for Parker Pen in Janesville as a secretary. On September 4, 1954 she was united in marriage to Stanley D. Brossard at the First Presbyterian Church in Cambria. Shirley was a stay at home mother raising their five children. When the kids grew older, Shirley went back into the workforce at Cambria-Friesland Schools as a secretary for the guidance counselor, the FFA, and worked in the high school library. Prior to retirement in 1998, she had the pleasure of working with the young ones in the elementary library. Shirley's life revolved around her grandchildren, traveling to all their sporting events. She was also a huge Green Bay Packers fan that was dedicated to tailgating on the frozen tundra no matter how cold it was outside. Shirley was also an avid Badger fan that enjoyed attending many performances of the UW Band over the years. She was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church in Cambria where she was baptized, confirmed, married and active with the Presbyterian Women. Shirley was a member of the Cambria American Legion Auxiliary Unit 401. She had an unwavering attendance at all the local community events and fundraisers.

Shirley will be sadly missed and mourned by her children, Steve (Sue) Brossard of Green Bay, Stuart (Bonita) Brossard of DeForest, Stanley (Pamela) Brossard of Traverse City, MI, Sally (Michael) LeClaire of Green Bay and Stacy (Toby) Smedema of Cambria; her grandchildren, Sarah (Jason) Seeger, Ben (Emily) Brossard, Shane (Amy) Brossard, Shauna (Jacob) Heuvelmans, Joshua (Stephanny) LeClaire, Elizabeth (Trevor) Mosupye, Jordan (Alicia) LeClaire, Bo (Megan) Smedema and Kirsten Smedema; her stepsisters, Pat Beske of Beaver Dam, Catherine Mitchell of Pardeeville, and Sue Mohr of Waupaca; 22 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Stan on Aug. 17, 2012.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Randolph Health Services who provided professional and compassionate care for our mother.

In addition, the family would like to acknowledge the steadfast support of our extended family, friends, and members of the Cambria-Friesland community whose acts of kindness made it possible to live a long and full life in the small town she was so proud to call home.

Memorials may be directed in Shirley's name to the First Presbyterian Church or the Cambria-Friesland School Booster Club.
