Powell Funeral Homes - North EnglishNorth English- Shirley Temple Brough was born February 7, 1950, in Gary, Indiana, the daughter of Cecil A. and Goldie C. (Vargo) Higgins. She attended school at Jefferson High School in Rockford, Illinois. Shirley enjoyed singing, cooking, fishing, reading, and playing solitaire, she loved animals and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Shirley died on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at Compass Memorial Healthcare in Marengo, Iowa, at the age of 75 years.
She is survived by her two sons Ed (Amy) Hada of North English and Larry Hada of Popular Bluffs, Missouri; six grandchildren Amada, Cassondra, Christina, Misty, Marty and Cory; numerous great grandchildren; a sister Mary (Dennis) Loving of New Windsor, Illinois; and two nephews Brandy (Holly) Higgins and Robert Rauch. She was preceded by her parents; a brother Butch Higgins and a nephew Michael Higgins.
A Celebration Of Life gathering will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 from 12:00 - 3:00 pm at the North English City Park in the lower pavilion. Powell Funeral Home in North English is caring for Shirley and her family. Messages and tributes may be left at www.powellfuneralhomes.com.
