Shirley Ilene Brown

Shirley Ilene Brown, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away on November 16, 2025, at the age of 91, in Okemos, Michigan. Born on October 23, 1934, in Lansing, Michigan, Shirley's gentle spirit and warm heart touched the lives of all who knew her.
Shirley attended and graduated from Eastern High School in Lansing in 1953, a testament to her diligence and dedication to education early in life. She would carry this commitment to excellence into a successful career, ultimately retiring as an esteemed Executive from Motor Wheel in Lansing.
Her life was grounded in her faith, as she illuminated her Christian beliefs through the way she lived, embodying love and generosity. Shirley's sense of joy often centered around the simplicity of life-whether it was delighting in the company of her beloved dogs or watching hummingbirds flutter in her garden, she found happiness in the natural world around her.
Shirley's legacy is carried on by her children, Vickie Watkins, Teresa Rankin, and Terry Brown. Her love will continue to shine brightly through her four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, who will miss her profoundly. Though she is now rejoined with her dear husband, Darryl, who preceded her in death on April 21, 2024, as well as her loving sons-in-law, Jerry Rankin and Steve Watkins, her memory and the lessons she imparted remain.
Those who knew Shirley would fondly describe her as loving, kind, and gentle-words that only scratch the surface of the remarkable woman she was. Her commitment to her family, her steadfast faith, and the tenderness with which she approached every aspect of life will be remembered by those who had the privilege of crossing paths with her.
