Shirley Bufkin Obituary
Visitation will be held 10 am- 11am, Tuesday, October 07 at the Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church.
Shirley Faye Ball Bufkin, 88, went home to be with the Lord with her loving family by her side on October 2, 2025. She was married to Dr. George Pat Bufkin on May 25, 1955, and they remained faithful to each other for 68 years.
Shirley Bufkin was born on April 4, 1937, in Delhi, LA, to Jerry and Verlyn Ball, where she graduated from Delhi High School in 1955. Being the daughter of a farmer, she knew the value of a good work ethic. Her work experience included a bookkeeper for Texaco Oil and Supply, Monroe, LA and an Office Manager for CPA firm Haddox Reid Burkes and Calhoun Jackson, MS.
Starting in 1955, Shirley served beside her husband as music director in each of the churches he pastored. These churches include:
Robinson Baptist Church, Delhi, LA;
Sardis Baptist Church, Farmerville, LA;
Salem Baptist Church, Farmerville, LA;
Zebedee Baptist Church, Rayville, LA;
Braxton Baptist Church, Braxton, MS and
Pilgrims Rest Baptist Church, Crystal Springs, MS.
Shirley Bufkin is preceded in death by: her husband, Dr. George Pat Bufkin; her parents, Jerry & Verlyn Sanders Ball; one brother, Dennis Ball and grandson, Michael Ryan Bufkin.
She is survived by her son, Stephen Bufkin (Dianne); grandchild, Jennifer White and great grandchildren, Olivia White, Camdyn White and Maddox Guy.
With gladness of heart, her family and those who knew her know it is true to say of Shirley Bufkin:
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." (2 Timothy 4:7-8)
