Shirley A. Whitaker Chidsey, age 88, of Hopkinsville passed away on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Baptist Health Deaconess in Madisonville of natural causes. Graveside Services will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Riverside Cemetery with burial to follow. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.

Mrs. Chidsey was born in Hopkinsville, KY, on July 5, 1937, the daughter of the late Herman and Eula Hayes Whitaker. Shirley retired as a seamstress from Elk Brand and was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Garfield Chidsey; her brother, Charles David Whitaker; and her sisters, Joyce Robertson, Betty Jean Mayes, and Mary Jane Gee.

Survivors include her daughter, Valerie Chidsey Wilson of Hopkinsville; her grandson, Lance (Christy Jo) Langley of South Carolina; her great grandson, Landrey Langley; her sister, Kay Dunn of Hopkinsville; and her significant other of 55 years, William Oliver of Trenton, KY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
