Shirley Fern Christ, 86, of Paragould, was born November 9, 1938. She departed this world on Monday, September 15, 2025.
Shirley worked as a convenience store manager during her years in Michigan. When she returned to Paragould, she was employed at Oak Grove Elementary as a custodian. Shirley finished her work career at the deli in Price Chopper, where she kept regular customers entertained with her wit.
Shirley loved her family above all else. She was happiest when surrounded by her sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Vern Shatley; mother, Ida Shatley; sisters, Rose Shatley and Coreen Howard; and brothers, Tommy Shatley and Jackie Shatley.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Jimmy (Gwen) Woods and Nickey Woods of Paragould; sisters, Connie Knee and June Burns; granddaughters, Jennifer (Jay) Cook of Cabot, Stephanie Woods, Tiffany (Heath) Farmer, and Jamie Woods of Paragould; grandson, Shaine Hurt of Brookland; and great-grandchildren, Jaycie Cook, Jenna Cook, and Jayda Cook of Cabot, Christian Harbarugh, Madison Farmer, Mikka Farmer, and Luke Woods of Paragould, and Hope Mitchell and Violet Hurt of Brookland.
The family will honor Shirley's life with funeral services at Heath Funeral Home on Friday, September 19, 2025, beginning at 12:00 PM. Visitation will take place from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Following the services, Shirley will be laid to rest at New Friendship Cemetery.
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Jay Cook, Luke Woods, Shaine Hurt, Bryan Shatley, Steve Tribett, and Richard Tribett.
In celebrating Shirley's life, we honor her love, her laughter, and the indelible mark she has left on all of us. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
