Shirley Cloud Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brumley-Mills Funeral Home - McAlester on Mar. 11, 2026.
Shirley Gene Cloud, 87, of McAlester, passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at OSU Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Family will receive friends on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home in McAlester. Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home chapel in McAlester with Pastor Marlon Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Sans Bois Cemetery in Kinta, Oklahoma. Active pallbearers will be JD Williams, Todd Palmer, Michael Martin, Bryan Cloud, Cadyn Surginer, Ethan Martin, and Jerry Richerson. Honorary pallbearers are Eddie Mathis, Donald Mathis, Gary Cloud, Zachary Bledsoe, and Walter Phelps.

Shirley was born on May 18, 1938 in Kinta, Oklahoma to Ellis and Ruby (Williams) Day. She married Leon Cloud on May 14, 1955 in Stigler, Oklahoma. One of the most beautiful parts of her life was the love she shared with Leon. Seventy years of marriage - a lifetime of memories, laughter, challenges, and unwavering devotion. Their love was the kind people hope for, the kind that stands the test of time and shows us what commitment really looks like. Shirley was the kind of person who truly never met a stranger. If you crossed her path, you were welcomed with kindness, warmth, and usually a story or a smile that made you feel like you'd known her forever. She had the most genuine heart and the ability to make everyone feel at home. Her legacy will live on through the love she poured into her family and everyone lucky enough to know her. We will miss her deeply, but we are so grateful for the many years, lessons, and memories she gave us.

Her hobbies included fishing, hunting, camping, traveling the country with her friends from the Crowder Choctaw Senior Citizen Center, attending rodeos, watching her granddaughter barrel race, and spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She was a member of the Crowder Choctaw Senior Citizens. Some of her favorite moments were tending to her flowers and the late-night three-way phone calls with her son and daughter, laughing, catching up, and ending the day together the way she loved most.

Survivors include her spouse, Leon Cloud of McAlester, OK; son, Larry Cloud & wife Georgeann Cloud of McAlester, OK, daughter, Sherri Parker of McAlester, OK; grandchildren, Michael Martin & wife Camille of Rapid City, SD, Shyla Surginer of Tulsa, OK, Bryan Cloud of McAlester, OK, and Kaylie Parker of McAlester, OK; great-grandchildren, Alexa Young & husband Strati of American Fork, UT, Cadyn Surginer & wife Abby of Hartshorne OK, Kieara Surginer & fiancé Levi McDonald of McAlester, OK, Ethan Martin of Provo, UT, & Dylan Martin of Rapid City, SD; great-great grandchildren, Lextyn McDonald of McAlester, OK, & Haven Surginer of Hartshorne, OK; nieces, Kay Day of Broken Arrow, OK, & Deborah Richerson & husband Jerry of San Antonio, TX

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis & Ruby Day; brother & sister-in-law, Kenneth & Jewel Day; and a son, Danny Cloud.
