Shirley Elizabeth Cohn (née Schwingel)

April 19, 1933 – July 16, 2025

Shirley Elizabeth Cohn, a longtime resident of Elmhurst, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, at the age of 92.

Daughter of the late William and late Phyllis Schwingel, Shirley was the beloved wife of the late Clarence "Mike" A. Cohn. She was the devoted mother of David (Paula), Michele (Tony), and Brad (Kristen); loving grandmother of David (Lies), Olivia, Erik, Matthew, Jamie, Alyssa, and great-grandmother of Hailey; and was preceded in death by her siblings Bill, Robert, Richard, Jerry, and Jeanette. She was also a cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Shirley was a woman of strength, warmth, and resourcefulness. A true serial entrepreneur, she dabbled in a variety of business ventures throughout her life with energy and enthusiasm. She was also an exceptional homemaker and caregiver, deeply involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Known for her ability to fix almost anything, Shirley brought joy, wisdom, and love into every room she entered.

She was an amazing mother and friend-always there to help, always ready with a solution, and always full of heart. Her legacy lives on in the family she loved so dearly and the countless lives she touched.

Services will be private. In memory of Shirley, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
