Betty Jane Norwood Cohn, age 91 died July 24, 2025, in Waco, Texas.
Mrs. Cohn was born August 9, 1933, in Marlin, TX, the daughter of Annie Vinson Norwood and Robert Charles Norwood. She was reared in Marlin and graduated from Marlin High School in 1950.
Betty Jane married Elmer G. Cohn on November 30, 1951, and they celebrated over 68 wonderful years together until his death on July 18, 2020. She graduated from Baylor University in 1981 and served as Director of the 82nd Judicial District Court Adult Probation Dept. from 1976 until her retirement in 1995.
She was a member of the Reagan United Methodist Church; past member of both Texas Probation and Texas Corrections Associations; Marlin Chapter #286 Order of Eastern Star; the Elizabeth Gordon Bradley Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Falls Hospital & Clinic Auxiliary.
Betty Jane is survived by her son Jeff Cohn and wife Bevil of Waco and daughter Gail Cohn Woodward of Waco. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren called her Grandma Jane. Grandchildren: Chad Connally and wife Stacy, Courtney Cohn Lafferty and husband Randy, Stephen and wife Megan Woodward, Michael and wife Jessica, Audra Woodward, Nicholas Cohn, Clayton Bynum and wife Rebekah, Clark Bynum and wife Alyssa. Great grandchildren: Chance and Logan Connally, Brayden, Landen and Masen Lafferty, Scout, Hazel, and Asa Bynum, Bradley, Blake, and Bryce Woodward, Wyatt and Barrett Woodward, and Harper Jane Woodward.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Clark Cohn, grandson Randall Woodward, and her sisters, Roberta Fertitta of Leesville, La. and Pauline Leach of Kerrville.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 on Friday, August 1, 2025, at Adams Funeral in Marlin with Rev. Walter Prescher of the Reagan UMC officiating. Burial will be after the service in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin for the family.
Memorials may be made to the Reagan United Methodist Church, 173 CR 255, Reagan, TX 76680, or the Marlin Public Library, 400 Oaks, Marlin, TX 76661.
