Shirley Anne Couch, 79, of Hubbard, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2025 at her home surrounded by family. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Wade Funeral Home in Hubbard, Texas with Pastor Butch Boatright officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm - 8:00pm Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Wade Funeral Home. Shirley was born on November 19, 1945 in Sumner, Texas to Oscar Leon and Mabel (Woods) Puryear. Shirley spent her formative years in the Waco, Texas area before marrying and settling in Hubbard, Texas in 1973. She worked for Texas Farm Bureau in Waco, Texas for over thirty (30) years and was a member of The Hubbard Cowboy Church. Shirley had a love of music and enjoyed singing, spending quality time with family and friends, worshiping her Lord and Savior, and sharing her love of Jesus with others. She wore a constant smile and was often told - "You must be a Christian" by friends and strangers alike because of how her smile and God's light radiated through her. She was loved by all that came to know her. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William E. Couch; her grandson, Jimmy Ray Arnett; sisters Geneva Slagel and Colleen Black; and brothers, Leon Puryear, Arlon Puryear, Dale Puryear, and Gale Puryear. Survivors include one sibling, Joe Puryear; daughters, Jennifer Bridges and husband, Paul, of Terrell, Texas, Laura Finch of Hubbard, Texas, and Vicky Woods and husband, Steve of Harker Heights; two sons, Jeff Couch and wife, Karen of Irene, Texas and Jon Couch and wife, Misty of Hubbard, Texas; grandchildren, Emily, Justin, Michelle, Jessica, Kristen, Hannah, Wyatt, Chrystal, Daniel, Mikaela, Anthony, Kylie, and Denton; numerous great-grandchildren and a number of great-great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family members. Pallbearers will be Justin Couch, Anthony Bridges, Denton Bridges, Daniel Finch, John Westberry, and Troy Perry. Honorary pallbearers will be Russell Bennett and Marty Howerton.
