Barbara Sue Vickery Prue

August 23, 1937 – September 28, 2025

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on October 19, 2025, with a visitation beginning one hour prior at Wade Funeral Home, Hubbard.

Barbara Prue left her earthly body on Sunday morning, September 28, 2025, to join Don and Tracey in their forever heavenly home. Barbara was known for her love, laughter, prayers, and big hugs.

Barbara Sue Vickery Prue was born to John Burton Vickery and Mamie Ruth Vardeman Vickery in Hubbard, Texas. She was raised on the family farm outside of Hubbard in the Cottonwood Community.

Barbara was a proud member of the Hubbard High School Class of 1955. After high school, she attended Texas Tech and Baylor University. She began her career in radio and worked at WBAP in Dallas/Ft. Worth.

Barbara met Donald Ray Prue in Fort Worth, where he was a Fort Worth firefighter. After a short time, Barbara, Don, and Tracey moved to Hubbard. Barbara taught school at Penelope for a short time, but eventually joined "the girls," as she called them, at First State Bank in Hubbard, and worked many years through the transitions to Norwest Bank, finally retiring from Wells Fargo Bank.

Barbara loved God, her family, playing the piano, reading, teaching Sunday School, Baylor Lady Bears basketball, and she loved Hubbard City. She was an active member of the Hubbard Chamber of Commerce, Ex-Students Association, lifelong member of Hubbard Methodist Church, and the Fairview Cemetery Association. She loved to teach Sunday School and lead Bible studies. Even after her stroke, she led Bible Study at The Blake Assisted Living and was cherished by all who knew her when attending Renew Church in Waco.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Don Prue, and daughter, Tracey Anderson. She was also preceded by her parents and her brother, John Preston Vickery.

Barbara is survived by her sister-in-law, Patricia Vickery of Hubbard; son-in-law, Keven Anderson and his wife, Paula, of Hubbard; nieces, Trecia Woodall and husband Kevin, Melanie Brown and husband Chad, and Crystal Curry and husband Shane; numerous great- and great-great-nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

The family would like to thank The Blake Assisted Living staff and her many friends living there. They also thank Renew Church of Waco for the weekly blessing you were to her. Appreciation is also extended to Avir Healthcare of Hillsboro and Harbor Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, please donate in Barbara's name to the Hubbard Ex-Students Association, Hubbard ISD Education Foundation, or Fairview Cemetery Association.
